Kunang-kunang River Cruise Beaufort

Kunang-kunang river cruise is situated near to Beaufort town and about two hours drive from Kota Kinabalu city. Klias Wetland is the biggest peat swamp forest of Sabah. As Klias is the habitat of wildlife such as proboscis (long-nosed) monkey, silver-leaf monkey and firefly.

This Deluxe Kunang-kunang River Cruise is only offer by Oib tourism which mean "Only in Borneo". It is a 80 feet wooden fishing boat. This boat has a capacity of 40 people, Where our group were only nine people make us feel very comfortable.

Oib has its own base camp. So, we just need a short distance walk to reach the Kunang-kunang River Cruise. There are many toilets at their base camp. The toilets are very clean with hand sanitizers and toilet paper inside.

Upon, arriving on the boat, we were served with sweet fried potatoes, fried banana and tea/coffee. We were very lucky to see three proboscis monkey on top of the tree even though the boat not yet start its engine. The proboscis monkeys were pretty shy. When they saw us keep on pointing towards them, they will turn around to hide their face, some will avoid us to see them.

We also managed to see the silver leaf monkey. These silver leaf monkeys were very active, they don't feel any different when our boat tried to approached near to them. They will continued what ever activities they are doing, like eating leaves or swinging.

After finished discover those proboscis monkey, our board stop at the river bank for us to fishing. There were two tourists managed to catch a cat-fish. For me, I was unlucky. But, I enjoy fishing there.

Beautiful sunset taken on the upper deck.

We serve on board with lamp chop, fried chicken, fried rice, salad, vegetables, fruits and drink for dinner.

After enjoying our dinner, the boat captain will switch off the lights on boat. We saw many firefly  flying around the tree. It was really like a Christmas tree.

This Kunang-kunang River Cruise trip cost us RM168 per pax. We were told that if you drive on your own to the base camp you will only be charge RM100 per pax. But, I won't recommend you to drive there because there was no parking unless you park at the road side only.
